I love Hammerspoon!! here's my one handed shortcuts for window control across multiple monitors: https://gist.github.com/pazimzadeh/b1c70f5f205d0b63264e7c021...

What will v2 enable??

Really there's very little that v2 might do, that v1 couldn't. This is almost all about me not wanting to maintain a big pile of Objective C and Lua anymore. I want to be working in Swift, and rather than maintain our own type bridging to/from Lua, we can get that for free from Apple's JavaScriptCore framework.

Beyond my enjoyment/productivity on the developer side though, I think v2 will be a big boost to user enjoyment/productivity, mostly because they'll be able to get much nicer IDE integrations for their config file, and be able to do things like write their config in TypeScript.

anyone can buy it for $500 using the education store

Yeah that makes no sense. only thing I've heard is they have connections to some cartels in south america. venezuela is gone but I suppose they could hire some local talent and get close enough?

Seems like a really dumb idea right now, unless maybe as a last resort if Trump decides to drop tactical nukes or something

I couldn't find the Seville orange, or what Iranians call Narang

Nevermind, they have the "Sevillan Sour Orange" and a few other sour oranges

also relevant to Ender's Game, which came out 8 months before Real Genius

Ender's Game the novel, but I would say that it's not actually super relevant. First, the original short story was 1977, and then Card expanded it into a novel which was published mid-1980s. The point in the story is that kids are sensitive, and supergenius kids more so, and that they don't want to interrupt performance with concerns about guilt. But Real Genius wasn't about that! It was about an anti-war stance born of the Vietnam War and creative-class hatred for Ronald Reagan's presidency.

Gotcha, I haven't actually seen the movie I just meant the concept of tricking and silo'ing genius kids to make them think they are playing a game when they're actually doing war/genocide is similar to the Ender's Game book. I don't know if this was just an idea floating around in the air or if it was inspired by Ender's Game, just interesting

I guess he achieved the same thing Bill Clinton achieved - he took the spotlight off of his personal issues.

But yes, I generally agree with you. It’s like the US/Israel don’t know how Iranians think about their country, their government, and the history of US in the region.

Do they not know that many people who hate their government’s domestic policy actually support their foreign policy?

Do they know that of dozens of ace fighter pilots (e.g. Jalil Zandi) minted by Iran during the Iraq-Iran war, most of them were “Shah loyalists” who preferred an Islamic Iran over foreign invasion of Iran?

It’s too incredible to think that they don’t know these things, so I guess they don’t care. So the goal must not be military, but something else.

Not, if you start calling US+Israel an Epstein coalition (forces). :-)

Hey, I also sent this to feedback@nugget.one, but just in case it doesn't arrive:

I wasn't able to get into your 'startup ideas' site.

Signing in with google led to internal server error, and signing in with a password, I never received the verification email.

Thought I would let you know. Can't wait to get those sweet startup ideas....!

Thanks, I've been very focused on lightwave and as a result let that one slide a bit. I'll try to get it working in next week or so.

This article is too long because it's written by a llm

if you read HN a lot, then it makes sense to have have native app for it

you might not be aware of how how much power is at your fingertips on a Mac with a tool like Hammerspoon plus some other utilities

obviously you can bind the app with it's own shortcut without calling my entire browser, but I can move it to any part of any of my monitors easy with my one handed shortcuts: https://gist.github.com/pazimzadeh/b1c70f5f205d0b63264e7c021... you get the gist https://github.com/peterklijn/hammerspoon-shiftit

I guess you could make a web app or app clip but I think this is a cool project. would be good to have a theme engine.

Look at NetNewsWire how good a native app of this kind can be. NNW in particular has great shortcuts, like or opening links in the native browser, and read/unread functionality

The new kids have an easier time focusing. the big kids can integrate AI with their existing products and user data

In the long term, big kids win no? The big kids are also going to have an easier time with hardware at scale too
