The biggest problem with Google Cloud is data store lockin..which is worse than programming language lockin. I would move to them in heartbeat if they had anything like postgres RDS ... But Google seems to love it's own version of MySQL. Anybody know if this is on the roadmap ?

Why is it such a big deal, why not just run Postgres yourself?

Why can't I run my own servers then ? The whole point of AWS is moot then.

Between everything else, database is the single most critical aspect - and there's a huge value for a high availability system.
