You see... two people can play that game. If anything, a pro-trump person could have used that same sentence of yours to demonstrate the opposite sentiment. Don't attribute biases to situations that are nothing other than complete and utter incompetence.
Her credentials worked against her. She was as establishment as you can be, with no perspective on any major change from the viewpoint of the average person, just continuing on down the existing path.
The reason Trump got elected is the same reason Obama got elected, and it is the same reason Bush Jr. got elected, and Clinton before him: people want change.
I think you're underestimating the damage the DNC did when they screwed over Sanders. A lot of the traditional democrats I know simply refused to vote after that. Sanders also offered the change you're talking about.
I'm actually pretty sure Sanders would have won against Trump, provided he got the necessary funding. I think he was too unpalatable for the money men and that's why the DNC swatted him down.
I think you're right. Even Reason (a libertarian mag) had editors making the case for Sanders as the best libertarian option from the choices available.
People I know who were not normally political were volunteering for Sanders. He had the groundswell populism that could have gone against Trumps.
