Presumably most students are living on or not too far from campus. What should be done to get more of them to use transportation options that don't involve driving to and parking on campus?



Isn't that exactly why they charge for parking? To encourage students who have other modes of getting to school to use those?

If you have free parking, students will drive 5 blocks to go to school, is because why not? It is free and faster and easier.

If you charge for parking, many will walk or ride a bike or take a bus.


Cambridge University has it right: undergraduates basically aren’t allowed cars.

Unless the university owns all land within 10 miles of Great St Mary's Church Cambridge University has it horribly wrong.
