Definitely impressive, but I just feel deeply disappointed that to get access to this great new promised performance, it comes at the expense of privacy and security with Big Sur. Still, looking forward to real sustained benchmarks.

I'm referring to the phoning home issue that was raised on HN recently: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25095972

If I'm incorrect in my understanding, would appreciate additional context and or information!

There’s further discussion here https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25095438 Essentially: the phoning home is checking hashes of developer certificates to make sure they aren’t revoked.

What are the privacy and security problems with Big Sur?

I believe they are referring to this:

Unfortunately half of this article is factually incorrect. It’s also not new in Big Sur.

Not just the phoning home, but the fact that Big Sur prevents tools like Little Snitch from blocking network traffic from Apple's own apps.
