When you choose to join an organization with clear rules, you should follow them or leave, not stay and flout them. The pope decides what the doctrines of the Roman Catholic church are, not individual priests. Centuries ago, the German priest Martin Luther founded Protestantism because he thought the Vatican had corrupted Christianity.
They _are_ following the rule of the organization. The issue here is that the organization didn't want to be seen as man and child loving (see the scandals with child abuses inside the catholic and evangelical church)
