The ship has sailed. While we endure incessant 'we want you to bend backwards and agree to our new TOS' in WhatsApp, Telegram keeps being friggin' awesome and getting better every fortnight or so.

by default. But you can change it to encrypted in settings.

It would be nice if it was the other way around - encrypted by default and unencrypted using settings


Group messages cannot be encrypted though which males the whole thing much less exciting


Also, encrypted chats don't synchronize among devices. Also, they can't be backup-up or exported for a manual migration.


My top 4 messaging apps are encrypted by default (whatsapp, signal, wire, matrix). Why would I use telegram?
