I quite like using USB-connected microcontrollers and Web Serial. I'm working on a MIDI controller, so WiFi isn't a good idea due to the latency. (Not to mention the running a web server on a Pico would probably get in the way of real time stuff.)

Firmware programming is a small niche, but it's been useful and I hope other browsers support Web Serial eventually.
